THE DATE IS APPROACHING…

LOGONo matter who you are, you will face obstacles and problems. Perhaps you have fallen into a rough patch in your life. Perhaps you have a goal, but it seems like you cannot make progress. Either way, the problems that lay between you and where you want to be can seem insurmountable, which is why it is important that we all receive a dose of inspiration in our lives. Moving And Other Matters (MAOM), inspirational leaders of Cheshire, will be sponsoring their first annual Driving Forward Seminar to do just that.

The Seminar will take place on July 14th and 21st, back to back Sundays, and is designed to be suitable for people from all walks of life. Each runs from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The first will be held at CoCo Keys in Waterbury, CT, and will feature Melissa Flynn, founder of MAOM, and guest speaker Ken Brown, an educator and advocate for justice and human rights. The guest speaker of the second, held at the Omni Hotel in New Haven, CT, will be Walt Hampton, motivational speaker and leadership trainer, whose goal is to help people achieve lives that are both successful and meaningful. Will Dunlop, writing & editorial intern of MAOM, will act as MC at both.

The talks of all the speakers are intended to inspire people to overcome the obstacles in their life. Each speaker will share meaningful insights into what gets in our way and how we can deal with these issues. The seminar will also feature vendor tables, and attendees may find it a good place to network, a truly multi-layered experience. Melissa Flynn has designed this seminar to embody her belief that “it is never too late to get your life back on track” and as a place to bring people together.

We hope you will all join us for a night of inspiration and connecting with people. And if that’s not enough, there will be a raffle at the end of the seminar, the prizes being a Flat screen TV and a BluRay player. You must be present to claim the prize.

Tickets for Driving Forward may be purchased at: https://July2013.ticketbud.com/maomdfs

Melissa also started this fund because she studied science in college (Molecular and Cell Biology), and she always felt that our country needed more women in science and math; Melissa wants to help to encourage that idea.

By Melissa Flynn

Moving on does not have to mean action. My inaction can be considered progress. I’m still thinking. I’m still planning. I just need some time before I can put it all into action.

My constant exhaustion, pain and soreness has caused me to consider my mobility—action versus inaction. I’m stressed. I’m sleepy. I’m thirsty. Wine anyone? I seemed to have gotten sidetracked.

I believe I was discussing my moving on. The fact that I’m not out running a marathon doesn’t bother me much. If I were twenty years younger, maybe I would be upset. I’ve moved on from wanting to be in the WNBA. Just kidding. I don’t think it was a thing back in my day. I make myself sound old, huh? I’m not really that old. But believe me when I tell you, sometimes I feel as if I’m eighty.

Exercise and age aside, I’m moving on with my plan to share. I am moving on with my plan to spread the word. And I’m inviting you to spend a few hours in an environment guaranteed to bring people together.
